Why Subaru Is a Great Choice for Your Teen Driver (and You, too!)
It’s been widely reported that fewer teenagers are opting to get their driver’s license. But more than 60 percent of 18-year-olds are driving, and their parents clearly want to make sure what they’re driving is safe. So news that Subaru has scored eight places on two prestigious lists of vehicles recommended for teen drivers makes us at Schomp Subaru very happy.
The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts rigorous crash testing on vehicles. Consumer Reports is a well-respected, independent product testing organization. They combined to evaluate vehicles based on criteria including vehicle type, size, reliability, emergency handling, braking distance performance, safety ratings and insurance claim rates.
The final lists include 16 new and 46 used vehicles. All the new vehicles were rated by the IIHS as TOP SAFETY PICK+ or TOP SAFETY PICK, which means they performed well on the many tests that IIHS performs, and also have excellent safety equipment.
The 2023 Subarus on the Teen Driver Vehicle Recommendation List include:
- Subaru Ascent
- Subaru Forester
- Subaru Legacy
- Subaru Outback
The Subarus on the Used Teen Driver Vehicle Recommendation List are:
- Subaru Impreza sedan or 5-door (2018, 2022)
- Subaru Legacy (2013-2021 – only those built after August 2012)
- Subaru Outback (2015-2018, 2022)
- Subaru Forester (2018 or newer)
The used vehicle list is broken into “Best Choices” and a more affordable “Good Choices”
Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc., said, “These recommendations reinforce our commitment to providing reliable and safe transportation options for new and experienced drivers alike.”
Schomp Subaru is proud to represent a brand that takes safety seriously – along with quality, drivability and comfort. Stacked on top of its community-oriented values, Subaru is a clear winner for any Colorado driver looking for a new or quality used vehicle.
