We are immensely grateful for the incredible partnership we have forged with Schomp Subaru. Their unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship has had a profound impact on both our company and the world at large. Schomp Subaru’s decision to offer customers the option to offset their carbon emissions by planting trees is nothing short of inspiring. By actively reducing their environmental footprint and investing in reforestation efforts, they have demonstrated their genuine concern for the Earth and its future. During the month of April, Schomp Subaru took their dedication a step further by planting an additional 15 trees for every car sold. This gesture of generosity not only celebrated Earth Day but also highlighted their commitment to making a tangible difference. The trees planted, as a result, have begun to create a ripple effect, restoring habitats, purifying the air, and contributing to the overall health of the planet. The impact of our partnership extends beyond the environment. Schomp Subaru’s influence on their community is immeasurable. Their actions have not only created a cleaner and more beautiful environment but have also inspired others to follow suit. By setting an example of responsible business practices, they have shown that sustainability and success can go hand in hand. Their support has enabled us to expand our initiatives, implement larger-scale projects, and make an even greater difference in the fight against climate change. Their commitment to our shared mission has not only accelerated our growth but has also inspired other businesses to join the cause. We are profoundly thankful for the partnership with Schomp Subaru. Their dedication to offsetting carbon emissions, planting trees, and inspiring others is changing the world for the better. Together, we are creating a greener, healthier future, and we are honored to stand side by side with Schomp Subaru in this important endeavor.

At Youthentity, we believe steadfastly that in order to succeed as adults, young people need early introduction to building life skills that are foundational for future stability and happiness. Youthentity’s youth programs are built on a base of experiential learning and mentorship, and we are always in growth mode: our mission is to reach as many students as we can with our financial literacy education, career exploration opportunities, and life planning programs. Sustained growth, however, requires solid partnerships. When we met with Lindsey Sandoval at Schomp Subaru, it was immediately apparent that she and Schomp just “got it”. It was refreshing and heartening to connect with an organization so genuinely committed to advancing organizations making a difference in their communities. Beyond financial support, Lindsey and her team were ready to help make connections and introductions that would help Youthentity to better serve the Denver metro area with youth programs. With Schomp Subaru, we feel we have a true partner – and we are so grateful for their support.

Schomp Subaru Shared Its Love for Aurora’s Sculptures and Student Arts Programs earlier this month. Sculpture met Subaru November 1st when Schomp Subaru teamed up with the On Havana business improvement district for the “Art 2C on Havana,” gala, celebrating the placement of 13 new sculptures along a 4.3-mile stretch of the busy thoroughfare from Sixth Avenue to Dartmouth. It was a great way to introduce the Schomp Automotive Group, which purchased Schomp and two other dealerships along Havana earlier this year, to the community. Schomp provided the gathering space and a sumptuous array of tapas and beverages for guests including city officials and Havana stakeholders. It also was an opportunity to showcase Schomp Automotive’s tradition of community engagement and giving back, an affirmation as well of Subaru’s “Love Promise.” Art2C gala attendees were asked to contribute art supplies for Downtown Aurora Visual Arts (DAVA), a community-based experiential learning program for children and teens who don’t normally have access to arts programming. Guests were invited to write words of encouragement and interest for the kids who participate in DAVA programs. “It was an engaging piece of ‘Sharing the Love,’ (Subaru’s signature slogan), said On Havana Executive Director-in-Training Chance Horiuchi. “Guests enjoyed it because it comes from the heart.” “We were thrilled when Schomp Subaru contacted us about the gala, and to be chosen as a recipient of art supplies,” said Susan Jenson, DAVA’s executive director. Guests donated paint, brushes and cotton canvas, “the most expensive supplies that we use at DAVA.” “It was so exciting to work with the people from Schomp Automotive,” said Horiuchi. “We haven’t met too many companies with such intentional community support. We haven’t had that relationship with a dealership. When they asked what nonprofit engages students in the arts, the first that came to mind was DAVA, which has won countless awards with its high-quality afterschool programs and workforce training.” The Art2C On Havana program is a partnership between the BID and Aurora’s Art in Public Places program. This is the eighth year for the sculpture competition. The BID puts out a call for submissions to artists every spring. Thirteen sculptures are chosen in a competitive, juried process. The 13 sculptures from the previous year are taken down and replaced with the new works of art, placed in prominent locations along Havana. “The exhibit gives residents and visitors a unique way to experience the District,” Horiuchi said. The top three winners are announced at the November gala. This year’s winners honored at the Schomp Subaru party included: First place – Dale Montagne of Silverthorne for “Time and Space,” located near the Havana Tower near Havana and Florida Ave. Second place – Victoria Patti of Arvada for “La Catrina,” located near Havana and Jewell Ave. Third place – John Wilbar of Pueblo for “Lyric,” located on Main Street at The Gardens on Havana. DAVA was founded 25 years ago on Colfax Ave. in the old downtown area of Aurora. The organization has 8,300 square feet of arts and studio space. Children from pre-kindergarten through high school participate every weekday year-round in both arts and computer programs “We have remarkable results working with a really diverse population that includes 60% Latino, 12 to 15 percent African and African-American kids as well as Asian and white children. There’s an equal emphasis on excellence in the arts and positive youth development,” Jenson explained. “We complement and supplement what the public schools do in the afterschool hours.” “Schomp Automotive has proudly supported education programs for many years. It helps us engage with the community in a very real way,” said Dealer Principal Aaron Wallace. “We were honored we could host this event. It was a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to our fellow business owners along Havana and also provide support for a community superstar like DAVA.”

The powerful image was broadcast around the world — the body of my friend, 31-year old South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) firefighter/paramedic, Cody Mooney, being wheeled down the hallways of Littleton Adventist Hospital to perform his final “rescue”, escorted by an honor guard, medical personnel, and his heartbroken wife, Emily, who was due to deliver their fifth child. One by one, fellow firefighters, family, friends and hospital personnel raised their hands to salute as Cody’s bed approached on its way to the organ donation facility. “Saving lives even after his last breath … after losing his courageous fight against an aggressive brain tumor,” a spokesman for South Metro wrote in tribute. Cody’s battle began in June of 2017, when doctors discovered a tumor growing on his brain stem. He decided against surgery, since it wasn’t affecting his quality of life or ability to work. This past February, the tumor had doubled in size and needed to be removed. His operation was a success but unfortunately, he experienced complications and his health quickly deteriorated. Cody passed away on Saturday evening, March 19, 2019. My name is Matt Talafuse. I’m an SMFR firefighter and board member of the nonprofit South Metro Professional Firefighters Foundation. Our mission is to provide assistance to local first responders and their families in times of tragedy and crisis. I was aware that as the sole provider for his family, Cody had faced mounting medical bills and couldn’t keep up with car repairs. When I learned that Emily was forced to place her toddler in a car seat through a back window, I immediately contacted the PR director of Schomp Automotive to see if they could provide her with reliable transportation – maybe a short-term lease or certified used car. My wife and I have bought four vehicles from the dealership, and both Cody and I had participated in Schomp’s annual Fire Muster, so I’m well aware of the Schomp Automotive family’s commitment to our community. Schomp’s management team responded quickly with much better news than I had hoped for. With owner Aaron Wallace’s blessing, they unanimously decided to give Emily a spacious new 2019 Subaru Ascent SUV to accommodate her large family. They later learned that Cody worked at Station 18 — just five minutes from their corporate headquarters in Highlands Ranch!Cody had married his childhood sweetheart and fulfilled his childhood dream of being a firefighter. At Cody’s service, his dad, Kevin Mooney, said his son had also dreamed of moving from his hometown of Tarzana, California because “Cody loved the outdoors and loved Colorado.” So much so that he moved his family to the rustic mountain community of Divide (population 127) at the base of Pikes Peak. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, and exploring nature with his kids and was willing to make the 85-mile commute to Highlands Ranch.Mooney family spokesperson, Justin Perlman, was one of Cody’s closest friends. They went through fire academy together, and were once neighbors and members of Littleton Fire Rescue. Justin was with Emily on Thursday, May 23rd, when she was handed the keys to her beautiful new Subaru Ascent. It was perfect timing, since the lease on their home in Divide was ending, and Emily was taking a road trip to visit family in California to plan her next move. In what some might consider Divine Intervention, Emily revealed that her brother would be joining her in his Ascent which Cody had driven and “absolutely loved”. Cody leaves behind Willow, Barrett, Weston, Georgia and infant daughter Cody, named in honor of her brave father. He’d be so pleased to know that Emily intends to take their kids camping in her reliable, rugged, brand-new vehicle thanks to Schomp Subaru.

My son Ryan who has a muscle disease, reached out to Make A Wish and explained to them how important his car is to him and how he would love to have his car restored. Make A Wish reached out to Schomp Subaru and with their help made Ryan’s wish come true. Schomp Subaru went above and beyond all of our expectations. The team at Schomp Subaru completely disassembled Ryan’s car, corrected all the hail dents, installed new fenders and repainted Ryan’s car. They did new weather stripping around the doors, new heads and resealed the engine. Went through the brake system to make it safe and reliable. When it came to the interior, they installed the seats that Ryan had dreamed of along with new carpet, back seat and stereo system. Rims and tires were also added to bring it all together. Schomp Subaru made Ryan’s wish come true. They worked as a team from the body shop and engine shop. The Front office was exceptional at making sure they did all they could to make Ryan’s wish a memorable experience. I can’t say enough about our experience with Schomp Subaru. They were outstanding with their workmanship, professionalism and everyone working together. Just want to give everyone at Schomp another thank you!!!

Project Helping is a Denver non-profit that aims to improve mental health in the community around them. As a non-profit, fundraising is obviously a huge source of income for the organization, and as COVID swept the nation, their annual fundraising event was not looking good. Project Helping was able to put together a new idea for a SAFE fundraising event- holding it at a drive-in theater. This came with a rescheduling in date and time, and far less sponsors than usual. A few days before the event, we spoke with Carla from Schomp automotive about tickets to event. She and James immediately got together and within a few hours we had a sponsorship offer from them. While this may not seem like a huge deal- it absolutely was. We were struggling and they were immediately there to help out. Even with short notice, they showed up to our event with their Subaru fly signs and gift basket for the auction. We cannot thank Schomp, Carla, and James enough for their continued support of our mental health programming and fundraisers.

Founded in 2008, WeeCycle strives to improve the health and well-being of at-risk Colorado infants and toddlers. We collect, “weecycle” and match essential baby gear – including diapers, baby food and formula – both directly to families in need and through our network of community partner organizations serving individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, teen pregnancy and under-employment, as well as those serving immigrants and refugees. By “weecycling” baby gear, we help keep children clean and safe and contribute to a healthier environment for their future. While 2020 has been a trying year for all of us, it’s been especially difficult for the most vulnerable families that WeeCycle serves. Aside from the stress of the pandemic, these families are faced with not knowing where their next meal is coming from or how they’ll pay the rent. Though we were forced to cancel most of our fundraising events due to Covid-19, we were fortunate enough to be able to host our annual Birdies for Babies Golf Tournament in September 2020. Schomp Subaru has a strong history of supporting the communities in which they operate and we were thrilled to receive their support for this event, which raised over $50,000 to help distribute essential items such as diapers, wipes and baby food and formula to vulnerable populations throughout Denver and beyond. We cannot thank Schomp Subaru enough for their support and generosity, and look forward to a continued partnership with Schomp to help make our community a better place for all of us.

Working with Schomp Subaru was an absolute pleasure. In the winter of 2020 the APS Foundation was a Hometown Charity Partner. We decided the funds raised would go to Personal Financial Literacy for Aurora Public Schools Students. In Aurora Public Schools, many students are first-generation students and financial education is not something their families have. Being able to teach students from a young age how to properly use items like a credit and debit card, what is good debt, how to invest funds. All of these items our students need to be successful in their professional life. Schomp Subaru is truly changing the lives of our students, and their families. We are incredibly grateful.

We are so thankful for the Schomp Subaru Community Care Kits. The program was an incredible response to the current homeless crisis we are experiencing in our city. To build an impactful program in the community, Schomp Subaru collaborated with us and multiple non-profits focused on providing resources for those experiencing homelessness to understand their needs and what would help support our outreach efforts. Here at the St. Francis Center we provide shelter as well as services that enable people to meet their basic needs for daily survival and to transition out of homelessness. “People experiencing homelessness face a daily struggle to survive each day. Through street outreach our team knows how small gestures of kindness can offer much needed hope in the moment. We are grateful for Schomp Automotive’s commitment to care for our unsheltered community members.” Jim Boberschmidt, Director of Outreach, St. Francis Center of Denver. The Schomp Subaru Community Kits included the following items; Water-Resistant Fanny Pack, Crew Socks, Sunscreen, Lip Balm, Anti-Bacterial Wipes, Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Hair Comb, and Lotion. Street Outreach is basically the craft of community connection that requires rapport-building and trust. The Schomp Subaru Community Cares Kits worked well because I could connect quickly with people, in the moment, and that is key. In addition, the Schomp Subaru Community Cares Kits were so nicely packaged that they were kind of a gift, a treat. This makes rapport-building easier. I didn’t have to fumble around with my outreach gear, in a situation that can already be awkward enough—for all concerned. I was able to simply hand something of value, that was functional and neatly packaged—and folks were truly grateful. Thank you so much to Schomp Subaru for the thoughtful and well-designed community support. The Schomp Subaru Community Cares Kits helped make the connection! – Greyden Charlesworth, St. Francis Center Community Outreach Coordinator.

Here at the Family Tree House of Hope, we’re dedicated to providing safe shelter and supportive services for adults and children that are experiencing child abuse, domestic violence, and homelessness. We provide emergency residential services, case management and advocacy, therapeutic services, outreach support, housing search and placement, education and employment support, among many other services to the Arapahoe County community. We’re so grateful to Schomp Subaru for hand-delivering over 200 large fleece blankets that we can distribute to our patrons to help keep them warm on those cold Colorado nights. These blankets mean so more than just small shelter from the elements. To these individuals, they can mean a feeling of security, a much-needed gesture of kindness, or even just a touch of normalcy that can make such a difference. Their team has gone the extra mile to share our cause with their employees and the community so that more people can be aware of these struggles and the dire needs of their neighbors and choose to volunteer or donate to help. We look forward to working with Schomp Subaru in the years to come. Thank you so much for all you do for our communities.

We were so thankful to have been part of the Subaru Loves the Earth initiative this year with Schomp Subaru. Through the initiative they partnered with three of our Aurora Mental Health Center facilities to build beautiful green spaces for the community we serve. One in five Americans will have a diagnosable mental health condition in any given year, and half of us will experience a mental health challenge at some time in our lives. For more than 40 years, we at Aurora Mental Health Center has used proven programs to help people achieve better mental health. We also provide education that enables people to maintain their emotional health regardless of the personal challenges they encounter in life. These green spaces, a collection of vertical Tower Gardens on site, aligned perfectly with our mission and initiatives to help people achieve better mental health. Our community now has a place that consistently has a beautiful collection of leafy greens and herbs that they can enjoy all year long. At our Stith Location, we are integrating the Tower Gardens into a program with our new community kitchen. Clients are being trained on the Tower Gardens, how to harvest and then incorporate into meals and dishes. The importance of green space and mental health go hand and hand; we are so thankful that Schomp Subaru recognized this and partnered with us to make it a reality. – Lori Banks, CEO

Our recent program with Schomp Subaru was a smashing success. For about a year we have been trying to launch a youth soccer club with our organization and Schomp Subaru comes in, helps us workshop a name and logo and kit color, find a coach and a venue for a starter match, and helped us acquire jerseys and needed gear. Such a creative, engaging and helpful group to work with. We look forward to an ongoing relationship with all involved – especially the wonderful team at Schomp!- Austin Lazek, Village Exchange Center

On behalf of Colorado International Soccer Academy (CISA), we are very proud to collaborate with Schomp Subaru Sports Alliance and Village Exchange Center to be part of this great opportunity to the Aurora and Denver youth by providing soccer technical skills development to The Beast soccer team. We had a fantastic time coaching these talented kids the fundamentals of soccer and sharing some insight into player experiences, team values, teamwork, individual soccer skills, and much more. We loved these kids’ passion for the game. Supporting their dreams to become something meaningful in sports is very motivating. We enjoyed every practice session. So did our CISA club players who interacted and played scrimmages together with the team. Our communities need more programs with the primary focus of having fun while playing a sport. The festival was fantastic; kids had tons of fun interacting and learning from each other, we enjoyed the delicious treats, and made our soccer community more enjoyable. We highly encourage you to keep moving forward with this program, as it brings opportunities and learning experiences to our communities.- Nelson

Homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic was labeled a “crisis within a crisis” by the media outlets nationwide, and people experiencing homelessness were projected to be in the highest category of people to contract and die from the virus. Local non-profit outreach efforts through street outreach and low-barrier shelters help navigate these individuals affected by homelessness to work toward stability. Distribution of hygiene kits during street outreach is one of the most effective ways in building rapport and trust with individuals on the street. “Aurora Warms the Night has been on the front lines of addressing homelessness for decades and the pandemic has created additional levels of concern throughout the region that we have never seen before. Addressing these exacerbated needs through willing partners like Schomp, provides us these much needed resources and relief for the needs of those experiencing homelessness.- Gabe Romero, Executive Director, Aurora Warms the Night.

Paws on the Ground Colorado has been working with Schomp Subaru for several years to raise funds and awareness for our organization through community events held at their dealership, most notably, our fall festival Bark-A-Boo. We are so grateful to Schomp Subaru for hosting such a festive and meaningful fundraiser! From encouraging people to donate or bring needed supplies, to creating custom merchandise for sale, to fantastic Yeti prizes for the pet costume contest, Schomp Subaru thought of every little detail to make the event fun and memorable. Our mission at Paws on the Ground started as an advocacy group to reduce puppy mill commerce, which grew into a foster-based rescue to help animals from high kill shelters by taking in the unwanted, displaced, medically in need and abandoned. We help facilitate transport, rehabilitation, rehoming and medical services for these rescue animals, and adopt them into their loving forever homes. With Schomp Subaru’s support, we found families for eight of our dogs that were looking for homes directly from the event. Not only did Schomp Subaru help with a direct donation, but the awareness they brought with additional media exposure is also invaluable in helping our rescue pets find loving homes and positioning our organization in the community as a non-profit to continue to support. Our volunteers, shelter partners and the animals we love are immensely grateful.

By 2022, Metro Denver’s population is anticipated to increase to more than 3.3 million residents. There are some positive aspects to the anticipated growth related to community revitalization; however, Dress for Success Denver’s (DFS Denver) clients are mostly impacted by involuntary displacement or the negative impact of gentrification. By causing low income residents to relocate, gentrification in some neighborhoods is contributing to “pockets of poverty” in other neighborhoods – a key factor that impacts DFS Denver’s future planning. DFS Denver’s Executive Director, Amara Martin had a vision to create a mobile transformation as an extension of the DFS Denver programs. This ‘Dress for Success’ on wheels could travel across the Denver Metro Area as well as the entire State of Colorado. The vision was shared and became a key milestone in DFS Denver’s Strategic Plan. As Amara shared the vision with staff, supporters and the community; everyone was bought into the idea. But central to this vision was the need for a vehicle to create the mobile center. Bernadette McClair, DFS Denver Development Manager was enrolled in a Nonprofit Development course at a community college. This course required her to connect with a nonprofit and pursue donations. Once she heard about the mobile unit, she knew this was an ideal project and donations for her to pursue. A former client of DFS Michigan, Bernadette has first-hand knowledge of the empowerment and necessity of DFS Denver programs. She used her connects to the community and family to arrange a meeting with Schomp Subaru leadership in Denver. During the virtual meeting in May of 2022, Bernadette explained her project and the vision of DFS Denver. She asked Aaron Wallace, Dealer Principle for assistance with finding and purchasing a box truck that could be retrofit into a mobile transformation for DFS Denver. Aaron immediately said yes. The entire team of Schomp Subaru loved the idea and desired to partner with the creation of the new program. They embody the Subaru ‘Sharing the Love’ community. The team found a 20-foot box truck and donated $70,000 for the final purchase. Schomp Subaru continues their involvement as DFS Denver pursues community partners to retrofit the truck. Once complete, Schomp Subaru has also offered to host a ‘ribbon cutting’ grand opening of the truck. The ‘Butterfly Bus’ Transformation Center “bridges the gap” in our services by meeting women ‘where they are’ and providing necessary job search skills, professional development resources and professional attire. DFS Denver’s programs and services are increasingly offered on-site at referral agencies to reach clients who are hindered by transportation and/or geographical barriers. Today, the Butterfly Bus Transformation Center is in the process of being retrofit. The generosity of Schomp Subaru, allowed DFS Denver to make this vision is a possibility. It is because of their dedication to our community that we will launch the new program in March 2023.

Schomp Subaru partnered with Make-A-Wish Colorado to collect holiday-themed decorations for the Make-A-Wish Colorado Holiday Wish Store! The Holiday Wish Store is a magical place where wish kids shop for holiday gifts for their family members… for free! With hands full of “wish bucks,” to pay for each gift, wish kids are paired with volunteer shopping assistants to help with the selection and wrapping of each present. This way, the gifts are a complete surprise for the family! And each wish kid has an extra wish buck to pick out a present for themselves! It’s a magical event that spreads holiday joy throughout the entire community. With the help of their customers and employees, Schomp Subaru donated 64 decoration items, totaling $1,155 to help make spirits bright!
